Those living in the Galveston area have probably noticed some changes over the past
decade. Old, undesirable storefronts were replaced with modern retail centers, condos
were built and historical buildings re-imagined. But what they may not realize is that one
man, Jerome Karam of Friendswood, Texas, is solely responsible for breathing new life
into the historic, yet aging, city.
An esteemed Personal Injury and Business Litigation lawyer by day, Karam has built
quite a reputation for recognizing underutilized properties and either restoring them or
changing their purpose entirely. For instance, in 2005 he acquired an outdated lumber
yard and transformed it into a 39,000 square foot retail shopping center. Featuring stores
like Ace Hardware, the front, which was completed in 2009, has gone onto become one
of the most profitable areas of business in
Friendswood.
Understanding the value of properties like few others, Karam recognized the need
for luxury condos in the Galveston area. In 2006, he acquired the dilapidated Moody
Plaza. Plans are already in place to convert it into an 80,000 square foot multi family
condominium and 8,000 square foot retail front. Moody Plaza will soon be viewed by the
community as one of the most prestigious places to live in all of Galveston.
Jerome Karam Attorney has recently expanded his real estate ventures into the city of Alexandria, LA. He
acts as the co-owner of Plaza 28. Formerly a CenturyTel, and located nearby a WalMart,
Plaza 28 will house multiple businesses in the main 43,000 square foot building, four to
five additional businesses in nearby pad sites, and 36 luxury condominiums. The state of
Louisiana has thrown their full support behind Plaza 28, as exhibited by a special ribbon
cutting ceremony thrown by the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks to Jerome Karam, once fledgling centers of commerce are teeming with life. In
addition, old worn down buildings have been converted into luxury living areas. As a
result, the economy of Galveston is booming.
Jerome Karam’s real estate ventures prove once again just how committed he is to
improving the quality of his surrounding communities.
